| Our nursery is located on 12
acres of land near our Southeast Polk area homestead
in rural Runnells, Iowa. Our stock is purchased
from a certified nursery in northern Iowa. We plant
only healthy, hardy trees ideally suited for this
part of Iowa. |

| Tree spade transplanting is most successful
when done in the early spring before the trees
break bud or late summer through late fall.
We also ball and burlap trees for transplanting.

Watering
Newly Planted Trees
| Watering is often the most important factor
in the survival and health of newly transplanted
trees. During the first 1-2 years watering
during periods of drought and high temperatures
is important. Extreme Iowa summers are hard
on new transplants. In this part of this state,
you should water a new tree every 7 to 14
days if less than 1 inch of rain has fallen.
It is very important not to over-water. Do
not, for instance, water your new trees as
often as you would your new lawn. Trees survive
best when their own root system is soaked,
then allowed to dry before the next watering.
For more information about proper watering
of your newly transplanted trees visit Iowa
State University Extension web site at: www.ag.iastate.edu/departments/forestry.
